Growing up in Waihī Beach at the very base of the Coromandel, Leonie first picked up a camera when she was 14 years old. After photographing millions of sunrises at the beach and flowers in the garden, she now focusses on adventure and astrophotography.
Leonie currently resides in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) working as a genetic researcher. After a university exchange to Northern Sweden, Leonie took up tramping as a way to satisfy her travel bug and enjoys combining the outdoors with her photography. When she's not busy cooking up a feed in a remote hut, you will often find her stretching her legs on a run, rock climbing, or off skiing in the mountains.
Leonie's overall goal is to inspire people to get out of the city and into nature. She genuinely believes that we belong outside and hopes that by sharing the beauty that the world has to offer, those looking upon her work will seek to take better care of the environment around them.
